I was born in Winchester, Virginia and grew up in West Virginia, where I later earned my master’s degree from West Virginia University. I spent ten years working in education before starting my business. Today I live in Greencastle, Pennsylvania with my partner and his elementary school aged son. We love going on “adventures” each weekend to explore somewhere new.
I enjoy meaningful conversations, exploring new places (especially in the outdoors), and spending time with the people who matter most to me. I’m naturally curious and love learning whether through books, travel, or hearing other people’s stories. I also appreciate quiet moments to reflect, recharge, and enjoy a slower pace now and then.
Sierra Learnership Collaborative designs customized leadership development programs that strengthen leaders at every level of an organization. Drawing on Sierra’s background in education, programs are intentionally designed to be engaging, practical, and built for real implementation. Supported by a collaborative network of coaches, speakers, and experts, the work focuses on sustained development, not one time training, producing measurable leadership growth.
I’m a former Fairfax County Public Schools teacher who never escaped education, I just started my own company. I’ve run Educational Connections since 1998, so yes, I’ve been talking about study habits for decades. My husband and I split our time between Alexandria, Virginia and Vero Beach, Florida chasing better weather. I have two awesome grown kids in Northern Virginia and three delightfully motley dogs, and a passion for running and triathlon because who needs rest, right?
Outside of work, I enjoy training for distance races and triathlons, exploring new places through international travel, and volunteering my time in entrepreneurial communities that have meant a lot to me. Endurance sports keep me grounded, travel keeps me curious, and service keeps me connected. I am the incoming president of the East Bridge Chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization and will follow David Lowry as program chair for Entrepreneurly in 2028, roles that allow me to support and learn alongside other founders.
Educational Connections is a tutoring and academic coaching company serving students nationwide for 28 years, fully online. We offer one to one tutoring, executive functioning coaching, test prep, and college counseling. We are especially known for supporting students with ADHD and other learning differences, helping them build confidence, stronger study habits, and ultimately better grades. But we do more than help kids raise grades. We help them stand out in an increasingly competitive college admissions landscape. From building strong transcripts to crafting thoughtful applications, we guide students to find their best fit schools so they have real choices and ultimately attend a college they truly love.
